We’re looking for passionate people to join our team at Canopy for the 2020-21 Winter Season and beyond.
Ideally, we require COUPLES that can effectively live and work together.

Chef
You’ll work alongside another chef to produce a set menu, changing daily and rotating on a weekly basis. The menu will incorporate both Western and Japanese techniques and ingredients. You’ll spend most of the time in the kitchen, but will also interact with the guests and present dishes directly to their table.
You’ll help to stocktake and order, and shop for the kitchen.
You may be asked to take on additional work during busy times, such as the occasional breakfast shift, driving and room changes.
- 35-45 hours per week.
- 6 nights per week, plus 2 prep days.
- Approx: 3:00-9:00pm
Driver
Daily responsibility will be to run the morning and afternoon ski resort shuttle, and collect guests that are checking into the lodge.
Occasionally a dinner pick up/drop off may be required for outside guests eating in at the Canopy restaurant, also a shopping trip and/or other errands to be done in Hakuba Village.
Snow clearing will be required in the morning prior to the ski resort departure.
You may be asked to take on additional work during busy times, such as occasional bar shifts and room changes.
- 20-40 hours per week (mostly 30 hours)

- Approx: 7:30-9:30am and 2:30-5:00pm (and pre-arranged dinner pick-up/drop-off)
Breakfast Chef and Assistant Cleaner / Assistant Driver
Morning responsibility will be to cook a hot complimentary breakfast every morning (bacon and eggs: scrambled, poached or fried to order) for your in-house guests – 10-20 guests per day. There are also additional sides (spinach, mushrooms, avocado, hash browns and sourdough bread) that are available at an additional cost and are prepared to order.
Set up and pack down of the kitchen plus clean up of the communal areas of the lodge post breakfast.
On busier guest check out/departure mornings, you may be required to assist other staff in carrying out additional cleaning tasks, or even a shuttle.
Afternoon responsibility is to carry out a second shuttle (if required). This will be either to collect existing guests from resorts, or new arriving guests from bus/train stations or ski rental.
All jobs are quick and easy, but the difficulty arises in changing between roles and time slots. Perfect for someone who likes variety, is flexible and dynamic. You won’t work that many hours per week, you’ll have plenty of riding time, but will be required to be on the ball in order to manage your positions.

- Morning Shift: 5 Mornings per week – 6:30-9:30am (working until approximately 11:00am on busy guest departure/check-out mornings)
- Afternoon Shift: Driver 6 days – 2:30-4:00pm (if required)
Breakfast Waiter / Assistant Cleaner
Set-up and pack down of breakfast service, ensuring items are refreshed throughout service. Greet all guests as they enter the dining area, take their cooked breakfast orders and communicate with the morning driver where each guest needs to be taken that morning.
Take on a reception style responsibility, assist and carry out any enquiries guests may have.
Post breakfast service, clean the dining area and other guest communal areas. Work together with other staff to clean guest rooms, and prepare for the next check in. Guest Room cleaning will involve: making beds, cleaning bathrooms, vacuuming and adding finishing touches.
You may be asked to take on additional work during busy times, such as a bar shift or afternoon shuttle.
